Big Beautiful Doll P-51D Mustang Print
Col. John D. Landers
Displaying one of the most colorful and attractive P-51D Mustang livery, "Big Beautiful Doll" was flown by Colonel John D. Landers with the 78th FG in 1945. Serving in both the Pacific and European theaters, Colonel Landers was assigned to the 55th FG and was later promoted to command the 357th FG before taking command of the 78th FG. He evaded capture in December 1942 after being shot down and bailing out of his fighter plane near Dobodura, New Guinea. Colonel Landers flew many aircraft (mainly P-38s and P-51s) all named "Big Beautiful Doll". Recognized as a hero of the Battle of Britain, Colonel Landers is distinguished with 34.5 victories across both theaters. The print illustrates his final "Big Beautiful Doll" P-51D Mustang as she would have flown in 1945.
This fine art print includes an aged background designed from an actual World War II military map. A timeless design for any decor!
